Our Chicago Trip

We headed up to Chicago for a few days this past week. Soon to be Aunt Adrianne is leaving her place up there so we wanted to take advantage of her apartment before it was gone. We packed a whole lot, but not too much into a few days.

Our first day there we walked down to the Museum of Contemporary Art and saw some really cool art as well as some interesting "art". Xavier was completely mesmerized by the swing fan art. What more could a baby want than a moving fan. We walked through a hallway of light that turned everything black and white. From there we went to LUMA, Loyal University Museum of Art. Xavier walked and talked through his first Rodin exhibit. He really like the bust of Balzac. That evening took us back to the MCA for some jazz. Xavier slept through the first bit of it but woke up and really seemed to enjoy it. We were down on the lower lawn and he was trying to locate where the music was coming from. It started getting chilly so we headed home.

Wednesday took us on his first bus ride. He spent the day in the Snugglie on either Mommy or Daddy. We headed down to Millinium Park over the new bridge to the new wing of the Art Institute. Xavier got to see his first Monet's, Renoir's, Surat's. He even dined with Monet and Surat for a little bit. We headed home for a quick bite to eat and some nap time before the evening performance of Luna Negra and Lucianna Souza at the park. It was incredible and Xavier clearly likes Brazilian music. Look up this dance troupe, there were great and the singing was amazing.

Thursday was his second trip to his second zoo in less than four months of life. As usual he slept through most of it, but we had fun. On our walk home we were stopped by the police and Secret Service. The President was going to land in a ball diamond and we had to go the long way around and it started to rain. We waited to see Marine One for a bit, which Xavier slept through, but it was time to get home and watch some soccer.

Friday we headed home. Xavier was pretty done in by then. He took in more sights, sounds, and smells in 3 days than he has in his four months of life. He was quite a trooper. I'm sure he'll be taking many more trips up to Chicago.

We are so thankful to Adrianne for her apartment and a get away for a few days. Gabriella stayed home and helped out with Vacation Bible School at her church. Hopefully she'll get to go on our next trip.
