Six Weeks Old and So Much More

I can't believe it's been so long since we've blogged for our little man. He's growing and growing and growing. The changes in a baby happen so quickly. Right now we're relishing watching him smiling on his own and in response to others. His favorite spot to smile and coo is the changing table. I think he's very proud of filling his diaper and is showing his delight but whatever it is he loves smiling at me and showing his delight. He's started "talking" and trying to be a part of the conversation around him. I swear he and his cousin Hannah have full blown grunting conversations about Jen and I. He's also starting to imitate faces, mainly Daddy's. The blow kisses to each other and stick their tongues out at each other. They can do this for quite some time. He's taken his first and subsequent bottles. He does pretty well with them. He'll fight it as first but then settles in. He still fusses when he's all done trying to get me to hold him and feed him a little more, but we're pretty good at not giving in to that.

My first Mother's Day was a beautiful day at the Indianapolis Art Museum with the family. We picnicked and strolled through the beautiful gardens. Xavier slept most of the time but that was just fine. He's such an easy going little boy. He gave me a beautiful book of William Blake poetry. Most nights I read to him from Poems from William Blake's Inn, so it will be nice to pair that with Blake's poetry.

We also spent a day car shopping for me. He was great most of the day but six hours in the car not getting a great nap and not being held was a bit rough. We took him out at the last dealer and all the salesmen ooooed and aahhed over him. We didn't find a car for me that day but by the end of the week we had. Again Xavier was the hit in the salesroom. This was followed by a day out and about just the two of us. Lot's of getting in and out and navigating everyday life with a baby. I'll have to say we did very well at it.

We have more adventures coming up including our first out of state visit. We'll keep taking tons of pictures.

6 weeks old and more
