1 Month Old

Technically he's one month and two days but we wanted to wait until the doctor's appointment to update the blog. Xavier is growing just as he should. He's gained 3lbs in the last month putting him at 11lbs 3 oz and 22 1/2 inches longs. Rodolfo and I guessed at his weight and we were both way under. If it was the Price is Right I would have won with a guess of 10.2lbs. Xavier received a perfect bill of health and growth today. One day I swear one day the outfit I put on him in the morning didn't fit him by early evening.

Now it's time for Mommy to brag about the little guy. He's started smiling well really grinning on his own in response to things around him. He recognizes my voice and Rodolfo's voice. We put his bouncy seat together, thank you Shepherd family, and he loves it. It's very soothing for him. He focuses easily and he turns his head to find me. We do lots of tummy time so he can work his neck muscles which he's been doing from day one and he is becoming very strong. His strong legs keep me on my toes. It's had to lay him down on my legs without him trying to launch himself off of me. We also do tummy time on the boppy pillow which is regularly tries to launch himself over. If he's laying down on his back when he's awake he would rather be propped up to see the world. He insists on being up at table level at meal time. So far we haven't had to hold him during meals as long as he's in his car seat at our level.

Eating and sleeping continue to go easily and well. He's starting to stay awake a lot of the day then sleep for about 5 hours starting around 9 pm. If he does take significant naps during the day then we keep him up until around midnight for a long feeding and he usually sleeps for about 4 hours or so. He's spitting up now so there is continually a burp cloth behind his head. In the last month I've been peed on, pooped on and daily spit up on. The mommy hazing continues.

With the beautiful weather we were hoping to start small adventures out together but this flu had nixed that. We did take a long walk downtown Zionsville and will continue to do that we just won't go in any stores. Mother's Day will be our next adventure out. The family is going to the Art Museum for a picnic so we won't be around too many people but still and adventure out.

May is a busy month with his cousin Elijah's and Luc's birthdays, Mother's Day, Gabriella's 8th grade graduation, a trip to Ohio for a baby shower and a Denison girls weekend in Indy. We'll have lots of pictures for that update.

Here are some pictures of our little man.
